936 days! Sometimes it takes a minute.
Bowser came to HSO as a stray in July of 2022 as a very shy young pibble boy of 1-2 yrs old. As is often the case with abandoned dogs, the cards are sometimes stacked against them if they don’t have all those perfect points of being dog, cat, kid, and farm animal friendly rockstars.
And that’s okay…this personality is where we shine. Every dog has a chance with HSO and there are few challenges we aren’t up to!

Bowser quickly became a staff favorite to those who knew him best. Once you were friends, you were friends for life for Bowser is a very loyal dog who will have your back. Here Bowser loved to run in the play-yard, tug-of-war, and fetch learning many basic cues over his years here so being treat-motivated guy really helped. Even as an energetic young man, he could also wrap himself up in the cuddle of a lap. There were very few squeaky toys or tennis balls he would turn down and he was never too shy to sport a seasonal sweater and pose that beautiful face for a photo showing off his gorgeous eyes. As is often the case with our long-term stay dogs, Bowser developed his own fan club and special volunteers that loved walking, playing, and loving on Bowser boy.
Seasons passed, as they often do in the temporary house of a shelter animal, and Bowser’s fan base grew as our staff served as his family giving him the love, attention, and affection we could during his stay with HSO. Three Christmas toy pulls and a couple months more, and Bowser’s luck turned on a dime!
A special two time HSO adopter with a fondness for pibbles, asked who needed home the most after losing his most recent HSO adoptee to the Rainbow Bridge, his second such adoption in 11 years. His new pet parent couldn’t be more perfect!
Wishing Bowser all the belly rubs, treats, toy-tossing, and love he can handle in his new furever home! We will all miss you, but this is what we live for!
